Man dies in York crash after running into tree

A motorist died Saturday morning in a collision on Beersheba Road in York.

Sherman Paul, 48, of Clover was killed in the crash, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

The wreck occurred at 10:05 a.m. near the intersection of N. Beersheba Road and S.C. 5, nearly three miles from downtown York, said Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The 2002 Nissan four-door ran off the side of the road and hit a tree.

Paul was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
