Rock the Prom for teens will be 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill, hosted by Just Be Academy, Successful Options, Sistah 2 Sistah of South Carolina, CRAVE and the Xi Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at Winthrop University.

The free event features three workshops, a panel discussion, makeovers and massages. Guest speakers are Melissa Chanel, a New York fashion and lifestyle blogger; Danielle Maddox, makeup artist; and Kristen McNeal, attorney. Special events

▪ The Lancaster County Council of the Arts present​s​​ Ladies Night Out at “The Awesome 80s Prom” fundraiser 6:30-10 p.m. April 18 at the Moose Lodge, 200 Shrine Moose Drive, Lancaster. The event includes cocktail hour, dinner and the play “The Awesome 80s Prom” by the USC Lancaster ​Players​. Tickets are $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. ▪ Historic Rock Hill presents “Historical Reflections on the Contributions of African-American Business in Rock Hill (1949-1974), 11:30 a.m. Friday at the White Home, 258 E. White St. Love Mills-Byrd will speak. Bring a bag lunch. Cost is $6. Free to members.

Fundraisers

▪ The National Honor Society chapter at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill will host a yard sale 8 a.m.-noon April 11 at the school. Clothing, furniture, toys, household items and other goods will be sold. There also will be a bake sale and face painting. All proceeds will benefit the society’s scholarship.

▪ Kings Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church will host a barbecue 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 28 at the church, 1130 Philbeck Road, York. Plates are $8. Dine-in or takeout.

▪ Clover Woman’s Club Annual Card Party will be 2 p.m. Friday at Clover School District Office, 604 Bethel St. Tickets $10. The event includes board games, cards, refreshments and raffles. ▪ Circle No. 2 of Trinity United Methodist Church will sponsor a church yard sale 7-11 a.m. Saturday at the church, 22 E. Liberty St., York. Proceeds go to church projects.

▪ The 2015 Festival Golf Classic will be April 21 at Pinetuck Golf Club with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Team entry is $240 and includes mulligans, on-course beverages and box lunch. Cash prize for hole-in-one, and awards for closest to the pin. Proceeds go to the Children’s Attention Home and the Palmetto School at the home. ▪ Bethel United Methodist Church will host its soup kitchen at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, 1232 Curtis St., Rock Hill. Open to the community. Donations accepted.

Meetings

▪ Spencer Estates Neighborhood Association will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the new City Operations Center, 757 S Anderson Road, Rock Hill. David Williams, 2015 chairman of Come-See-Me, will speak.

▪ Rock Hill for Peace, a local chapter of the Carolina Peace Resource Center, will host its inaugural meeting 7 p.m. March 26 in room 107 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave. The group will organize educational and advocacy efforts on peace, justice and environmental concerns. ▪ The York County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs will meet 7 p.m. March 26 at the Administration Building, 7900 Park Place Road in the East York Industrial Park, off S.C. 5. Open to the public.

Clubs

▪ The Vintage Club dinner meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Phil Glennon Community Center in Tega Cay. Cocktails begin at 6:15 p.m. Entertainment will be Francis Nazzaro’s tribute to Frank Sinatra. The club is open to residents of Tega Cay age 50 and older. ▪ The Ballroom Dance Club will meet 7:30-10:20 p.m. Friday in the Oak Room at Fort Mill Golf Course Club House, 101 Country Club Drive. Dressy casual. No alcohol. Light refreshments served. Classes

▪ “I Am for the Child” – free child advocacy volunteer training – will be 8-9 p.m. Mondays and Thursday beginning March 30 at BTC Building, Suite 400, 454 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill. Tax help

▪ The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will offer free tax-preparation assistance 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through April 15 at the Rock Hill City Hall Wellness Center. Volunteers are IRS certified and trained by the S.C. and N.C. departments of revenue. Tax returns are electronically filed.

Bring current year’s tax forms, W-2 and 1099s, information regarding other income, information for all deductions and credits, a copy of last year’s tax return, proof of account for direct deposit of refund (e.g., voided check), Social Security or individual taxpayer identification cards, proof of identification.

▪ Free federal and state tax preparation for low- and moderate-income taxpayers and those 60 and older will be offered 12:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays through April 9 at the Adult Education Center at the Flexible Learning Center, 1234 Flint St. Ext., Rock Hill.

Bring a copy of last year’s tax return, Social Security card, picture identification and any W-2s, 1099s and other forms showing income or deductions. No appointment needed. Filings completed on a first-come basis.

▪ AARP Tax-Aide Program offers free federal and state income tax preparation 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 14 at the Fort Mill branch of the York County Library in Baxter Village. Clients taken on first-come basis. Last client taken at 3:30 p.m. No age or income limit. Limited appointments can be scheduled at calendly.com/fortmilltaxes. Bring 2014 tax return, picture IDs, Social Security cards for all being claimed, 1099s, 1098s, 1095A forms, W-2s, and any other proof of deductions or income. Health

▪ North Central Family Medical Center, 1131 Saluda St., Rock Hill, will have special enrollment for the Affordable Care Act 9 a.m.-noon March 27 and April 10 and 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. April 25.

▪ Early Learning Partnership’s free children’s clinic hours are 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Fridays in the Rock Hill Family Resource Center, 410 E. Black St. Children from birth to age 18 who do not have health insurance can see a doctor or nurse practitioner. Services include sick visits, immunizations and sports and school physicals. For appointments, call 803-322-6636. Other clinics are held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in York, Fort Mill and Clover. York County children may attend any of the four clinics.

Volunteers

▪ The Rock Hill Youth Council is looking for youth volunteers who want to give an afternoon of service noon-4 p.m. March 28 as part of Rock Hill’s Youth Service Day. Groups such as school clubs, church youth groups, Scouts and others are invited to participate.

Teams will gather at the Cherry Park Open Shelter at noon for a kick-off celebration with free food, music and free T-shirts. Volunteers will then go to project locations. Groups are responsible for organizing their own service project and should complete an application by Wednesday. Group application forms are available at cityofrockhill.com/prt or by calling Patti Panetti at 803-329-5625.

▪ The nonprofit Friends of the York County Animal Shelter needs volunteers to help bathe, groom, exercise, socialize, train and provide adoption information for the animals, as well as assist in follow-ups, publicity, marketing and fulfilling other jobs at the shelter. Time and mileage may be tax deductible. Volunteers must be 18 or older; orientation and training are required. For information, call 803-818-6485 or go to the shelter at 713 Justice Blvd., York.

Reunions

▪ Rock Hill High School class of 1960 will host its 55th reunion 3-8 p.m. May 23 at Elks Park with a catered dinner. Reservations are due May 1. For information, call 803-324-9982.
