A Rock Hill area business made it official Tuesday morning, announcing a $4.2 million expansion set to add 40 new jobs.

National Machining & Fabrication designs, retrofits, fabricates and welds machine parts and equipment at 4977 Steele Village Road in Rock Hill. Clients include paper and steel mills, mining operations and manufacturers.

A new 12,500-square-foot facility at the Rock Hill site will increase capacity for its fiber laser, water jetting and other forms of fabrication and machining.

Last November company owner Jimmy Hutto told York County he’s been working here since 1997 and works with about 30 industrial companies. He said county and state tax incentives his company was working through at the time were key in his decision to expand.

Tuesday’s announcement came after the state Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits for the project.

“The NMF team is thrilled to announce the expansion at the Rock Hill location,” Hutto said in a statement. “The resource availability and assistance of York County Economic Development, York County Council and the state of South Carolina have been tremendous. We are excited about our continuous improvement and growth.”

In the same statement from Gov. Henry McMaster’s office, York County Council Chairman Michael Johnson expressed excitement for the expansion.

“York County is excited to see National Machining & Fabrication, Inc. expand in our community,” Johnson said. “This company’s commitment to manufacturing is great news and we look forward to continuing to support them in their future endeavors.”

The expansion should be complete by 2023. Anyone interested in new jobs with the company can apply online at nationalnmf.com.
