Man found dead in vehicle in parking lot of Lancaster Police Department

A person was found dead Thursday morning in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Lancaster Police Department, officials said.

The body of the adult man was discovered by officers in the lot around 9 a.m, said Kayla Vaughn, spokesperson for the police department. Vaughn did not identify the person but said the person is not affiliated with the police department.

The police department building is at 405 E. Arch Street near downtown Lancaster. The area was sealed off as emergency officials from EMS and other agencies were on scene.

Officials said there was not a public safety issue for the surrounding area or community.

Lancaster County Coroner Karla Knight-Deese confirmed a death investigation is ongoing at the scene but has not released any other information.

Police officials called the State Law Enforcement Division to assist in the investigation, said Tommy Crosby, spokesman for SLED.

“Our crime scene unit was sent to process the scene,” Crosby said. “We can confirm an investigation is underway.”
