Free coronavirus vaccines offered Friday in Lancaster
If you live in the Lancaster County area and haven’t gotten your COVID-19 vaccine, there will be a free opportunity this Friday.
From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., there will be a free clinic offering the Pfizer vaccine at Lancaster High School. The school is at 1100 Stadium Drive in Lancaster.
So far, 53% of Lancaster County residents are vaccinated, according to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Statewide Immunization Online Network. This event is an effort to boost that number, a press release said.
Attendees must be 12 or older to receive the Pfizer vaccine.
Lancaster County schools have been hit hard by COVID-19 this year. The Lancaster County School District saw the loss of one student and two staff members early this year. And coronavirus tracking data by the New York Times says that Lancaster County is “extremely high risk for unvaccinated people.”
The event is part of the “In It to Win It” campaign, a joint effort by South Carolina Department of Education and DHEC. The campaign aims to bring the state of South Carolina to 70% vaccination, which DHEC says is the number needed for herd immunity.
