When it comes to local news, the Rock Hill region has had its share. Your support -- as readers, subscribers and through philanthropy -- helps us tell this region’s story.

Here are examples of what you’ve allowed us to do.

The Herald has reported about COVID and how the threat diminished, regained momentum and now slowly is again fading back. That doesn’t mean the threat is gone. So, we’ll keep you informed.

We’ve written about the new gambling casino in Kings Mountain, N.C., opened by the Catawba Indians who live in Rock Hill, and how that will have a positive financial impact. There has been a plethora of new businesses and updates on road construction -- even Fort Mill’s new diverging diamond interchange. And we told you how to drive on it.

We’ve been there to write about school news, high school sports and issues related to public safety. We were even up late into the night earlier this month to let you know who would be Rock Hill’s new mayor.

And on more than one occasion I’ve told you about The Herald’s partnership with Report For America and the impact of Tobie Perkins.

She has been our reporter who focuses on Chester County, one of the poorest areas in the state. Her work has impacted the lives of people who live there. She has written about COVID, education and government. We also expanded her role a bit as she has written about the Catawba Indians.

Tobie’s position is funded jointly through Report For America and The Herald. Much of the funding comes in donations from the public.

We’re now opening our fall fundraising effort and again asking you to support our public-interest journalism by making tax-deductible donations.

This is how you can help:
