Truck fire near Clover and a school has York County road blocked, officials say

A main road near Clover is blocked after a truck caught fire near a school then crashed into a yard, officials said.

The tractor-trailer truck was on fire off S.C. 55 near Soaring Eagles Road, said Trent Faris, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The truck went off the road and almost hit an abandoned house, Faris said.

S.C. 55 in the area remains blocked, officials said.

Officials have not yet said if there are injuries at the scene.

The area is near Clover Middle School west of the Clover town limits.

Sheriff deputies are assisting with traffic control as firefighters work the fire. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash of the truck, according to the S.C. Department of Public Safety traffic incident Web site.
