Ok, only a few days left. What you need to know about Christmas in the Rock Hill area
Don’t let colder temperatures early this week fool you — we’re not expecting a white Christmas for the Rock Hill area.
The holiday weekend is going to be warm, continuing the trend this month, weather experts say.
Even in the mountains, temperatures will be in the mid-to-low 50s, says Ashley Pratt of the National Weather Service’s office in Greer.
After a cold start to the week, we’ll see a big warm up Christmas Eve, with temperatures up to 60 degrees. But Christmas day will feel the most like spring; sunny skies and highs of 70 degrees. Sunday will see a slight cool down, but stay in the 60 degree range.
“Temperatures on Christmas Day look to be well above normal,” Pratt says.
The average high temperature on Christmas day is 54 degrees.
Gas prices
As you embark on Christmas travel, here’s what to know about gas prices.
Gas prices are dropping nationwide, despite being much higher than last year’s average, GasBuddy, a tech company that provides data based on real-time fuel prices at more than 140,000 gas stations, says.
Going into Christmas weekend, South Carolina is currently the 10th cheapest state to buy gas, according to GasBuddy. The state is in the range of $2.93 to $2.98 per gallon.
The best place to fuel up in the tri-counties is going to be Lancaster County. Lancaster falls far below the state average with an average price of $2.73, and is the second cheapest county in S.C. to buy gas.
The average price in York County is $2.96. Chester County has the highest average at $2.99.
If you’re traveling to North Carolina, the state average there is about $3.00.
Georgia’s average is about $3.10, and Tennessee is about $2.98.
