Fuel delivery worker dies at Clover SC construction site, officials say
A man delivering fuel was killed Wednesday in a South Carolina construction site incident in Clover, officials said.
The York County Coroner’s Office responded but has not yet released the name and place of residence of the person who died.
The man died at a site near U.S. 321 and Old Carriage Road around 11 a.m., said Sgt. Tracy Reid, spokesman for the Clover Police Department.
The death is believed to be accidental but an investigation remains ongoing, Reid said.
OSHA aware of the incident: officials
Officials notified the South Carolina office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Reid said. S.C. OSHA regulations require all workplace fatalities to be reported by an employer within eight hours, the S.C. OSHA Web site states.
South Carolina OSHA knows of the incident, officials told The Herald Wednesday afternoon
“S.C. OSHA is aware of the incident and is currently evaluating whether it will investigate,” said Lesia Kudelka, spokesperson for S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
The name of the company the man worked for has not been released.
No fuel spilled: York County emergency management
No fuel was spilled during the incident, said police and Chuck Haynes, Director of York County Emergency Management.
Clover, located south of the North Carolina state line, has about 7,000 residents.
