SC officials investigating after man found dead after fire at Rock Hill home

South Carolina officials are investigating after a man was found dead after a fire at a Rock Hill home, officials said.

The name of the man who died in the fire on Blackmon Street has not been released by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The fire at 821 Blackmon St. was dispatched before 9 p.m Tuesday, said Mark Simmons, deputy chief of the Rock Hill Fire Department. The fire was dispatched as a structure fire with entrapment, Simmons said.

Two adults were outside the home when firefighters arrived, Simmons said.

Firefighters found an adult man dead in a bedroom, Simmons said.

The S.C. Fire Marshal’s Office was notified because of the fatality, Simmons said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal, Rock Hill Police Department, and fire department, Simmons said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the two survivors of the fire.
