Here’s where to find July 4th fireworks and events in York County this weekend

The 4th of July is right around the corner, and there’s a handful of celebrations happening across York County this weekend.

Highlights include fireworks, parades and a hot dog eating contest. York County residents have an array of events to choose from during the holiday.

Rock Hill

Red, White and Boom: Rock Hill is hosting Red, White and Boom downtown on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be fireworks, food trucks, live music and free inflatables. The event is free. The fireworks will start around 9:30 p.m. at the corner of Dave Lyle Boulevard and Main Street.

Hot Dog Eating Contest: Dust Off Brewing Co., at 130 W White St., is hosting a hot dog eating contest on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is free.

Tega Cay

4th of July Celebration: The city of Tega Cay is celebrating more than Independence Day this weekend. It’s also celebrating its 40th birthday celebration with three days of events.

The weekend’s festivities will kick off on Friday at 5 p.m. at Windjammer Park, at 8999 Windjammer Dr. Residents can race in the Goat Boater Freedom SUP Fun Run, a stand-up paddleboard competition. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. Then, residents can watch the city’s boat parade at 6 p.m. The parade has an ‘80s twist this year. And at 7 p.m., the Carolina Show Ski Team will perform.

On Saturday, the city will host a 4th of July concert at Runde Park, at 5116 Windward Dr., from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a variety of food trucks there.

And on Monday, there will be a land parade at 9 a.m. The route will depart from Tega Cay Elementary School and go down Tega Cay Drive to Runde Park. At 4:30 p.m., the Tega Cay Lion’s Club will host its annual fish fry at the Glennon Center, at 15083 Molokai Dr. Then, the city will have its 40th birthday party at 7 p.m. at the Glennon Center. And 9:30 p.m., residents can watch fireworks.

Carowinds

July 4th Fireworks: The two-state amusement park will have fireworks shows on Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights. The shows will start around 9:30 p.m. each night and will be visible throughout the park.

Fort Mill

Independence Day Celebration: The town will host several activities to celebrate the holiday in its historic downtown on Saturday night. The celebration will kick off at 5 p.m. There will be merchants, food trucks and vendors. And there will be plenty of activities for kids, including face painting, balloon artists, crafts and a chalk zone.

The night will end with the town’s annual firing of the cannons at 8:30 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

York

City of York 4th of July Fireworks Show: The city’s annual fireworks show will be from 7 p.m. to 1- p.m. at York Middle School, at 1010 Devinney Rd. The event is free. There will be food trucks, free games and live music.
