One hurt after train collides with truck near Fort Mill close to NC state line

One person was hurt Tuesday afternoon when a train and a truck collided in York County between Fort Mill and the North Carolina state line, officials said.

The collision happened where train tracks cross Regent Parkway in northeastern York County, according to York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris and the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Highway patrol Master trooper Gary Miller said the driver of the vehicle was injured and transported for medical attention after the collision. The driver has not been identified.

The train was a Norfolk Southern train, Miller said.

No other information about the crash was immediately available as the investigation by the highway patrol continues, Miller said.

Faris of the sheriff’s office said Regent Parkway was temporarily closed after 1 p.m. while the train was stopped on the tracks that cross the road after the crash in the early afternoon. The road re-opened later Tuesday afternoon, Faris said.

Regent Parkway connects U.S. 21 in northern South Carolina and Harrisburg Road in North Carolina, close to Pineville N.C. and Charlotte.
