York County SC woman missing over a month found dead near Rock Hill, officials say
The body of a South Carolina woman reported missing in York County more than a month ago was found Friday near Rock Hill, officials said.
York County Coroner Sabrina Gast identified the body found in woods off Sturgis Road as Amanda Brooke Karraker, 34, of Rock Hill.
There are no indications of foul play, Gast said in a written statement.
The area where the body was found is near the Green Earth community of the Catawba Indian Reservation, York County Sheriff’s Office said in a Friday statement on social media.
The area is east of Rock Hill, between the city and the Catawba River.
Deputies had posted on social media in April that Karraker was last seen April 1 in Rock Hill before she was reported missing.
The death remains under investigation by the coroner and sheriff’s office, officials said.
