Juneteenth to kickoff with Friday food trucks, entertainment
Mt. Prospect Baptist Church and the City of Rock Hill are ready to celebrate the annual Juneteenth holiday starting Friday with the Food Truck Kickoff at Fountain Park.
Juneteenth celebrates the announcement of abolition on June 19, 1865, in Texas, and the end of slavery in the South.
This year’s celebration will be Friday and Saturday, June 16-17.
Hundreds of people are expected Friday to enjoy the food trucks and live entertainment at Fountain Park. The event starts at 6 p.m.
Juneteenth will continue Saturday with Freedom Fest at Clinton College in Rock Hill from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Clinton College.
This year’s entertainment will include: Eric Brown, Tanzella Barber, Eloveation, Angelo Geter, Visionsgottalent, Carlo L’Chelle Dawson and Lady V Poetry.
