One dead in Lancaster County after head on crash involving tow truck, trooper says
A driver died Monday after a head-on crash with a tow truck in Lancaster County, officials said.
The person who died has not yet been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal collision happened Monday afternoon on Fork Hill Road south of Lancaster, said Cpl. David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
The person who died was driving a 2000 truck, Jones said. The truck collided head-on with a 2022 Dodge tow truck, Jones said.
The tow truck driver was not injured, Jones said.
The wreck remains under investigation by the highway patrol and coroner’s office.
The fatality is the fifth on Lancaster County roads in 2023, according to statistics from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
