A driver was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in York County west of Clover, officials said.

The wreck happened after 7 a.m. on S.C. 55 near Deal Road, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The driver was killed after the 1999 Honda sedan went off the side of the road, overturned, and hit a tree, Miller said.

There were no passengers in the car, Miller said.

The person who died has not yet been identified by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The fatality is the 21st on York County roads in 2023, according to S.C. Department of Public Safety statistics.
