A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Lancaster County, officials said.

The person who died later at Medical University of South Carolina hospital was identified Thursday as Jonathan Hutchinson, 22, of Lancaster, according to Lancaster County Coroner Karla Knight-Deese.

The collision happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday on Airport Road, said Lance Cpl. Nick Pye of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The pedestrian was struck by a van, Pye said in a statement.

The driver of the van was not hurt, Pye said. One of two passengers in the van was transported for medical attention, Pye said.
