Pedestrian dies after struck by SUV in Chester County, trooper says

A pedestrian has died after being struck by an SUV in Chester County, officials said.

The collision happened around 4 p.m. Monday on S.C. 97 near Brooks Road, said Lance Cpl. Nick Pye of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The area is west of Interstate 77.

The pedestrian walking across the road was struck and died, Pye said.

The name of the person who was killed has not been released by the Chester County Coroner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the coroner and highway patrol.

The fatality is the eighth on Chester County roads in 2023, according to statistics from the S.C. Department of Public Safety.
