2 dead, others hurt after Chester County crash near York County line: Troopers
Two people died and others were hurt Wednesday afternoon in a South Carolina crash in Chester County near the York County line, officials said.
The collision happened on S.C. 72 near East Chapell Road around 3 p.m., officials said.
S.C. 72, also called Saluda Road, is a main connector between Rock Hill and Chester.
Three vehicles were involved in the collision, according to a statement from Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Two people in a 2004 Nissan Sentra car, including the driver and a passenger, died, Miller said. Two juveniles in that car were transported to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, Miller said.
The drivers of the other vehicles, a car and a pickup truck, were hurt and transported by EMS, Miller said.
None of the people involved in the crash have been identified by law enforcement.
The Chester County Coroner’s Office has not identified the persons who died.
S.C. 72 was closed for a time at East Border Road on the York County side after the crash, according to a statement from the York County Sheriff’s Office on its social media pages. S.C. 72 was closed on the Chester County side at Fishing Creek Church Road, the sheriff’s office said.
The collision remains under investigation by the highway patrol’s mutli-disciplinary accident investigation team (MAIT), according to officials.
