▪ The Rock Hill Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will host a Community Health Day, “Mental Health Across the Lifespan,” 10 a.m.-noon March 19 at the Emmett Scott Center, 801 Crawford Road.
The program will include resources and tools to help maintain sound mental health.

Special events
▪ The Ag+Art Tour of Lancaster County is accepting applications from artisans who want to participate. Artists are featured free at agricultural locations that have applied to be part of the 2016 self-guided farm tour. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 10 and 1-5 p.m. June 11. Lancaster County is one of nine counties that make up the SC Ag+Art Tour, the nation’s largest free farm tour. For information and applications go to agandarttour.com/artisans. ▪ The York County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center wants gently used softcover/paperback books for the inmate population’s library. Needed are fiction and nonfiction books. ▪ St. John’s United Methodist Church will have its Children’s Consignor Sale 9 a.m.-7 p.m. March 10-11 and 8 a.m.-noon March 12 at the church in Fort Mill. Most items half price March 12. This sale features children’s clothing and accessories, shoes, toys, books, baby furniture and equipment. Fundraisers
▪ District 8 Order of the Eastern Star will host a Poor Man’s Supper, 4-7 p.m. Saturday at Alpine Masonic Lodge, 502 N. Main St, Clover Cost is $7 for all-you-can-eat pinto beans, vegetable soup, cornbread, slaw, dessert, and drink. For information, call Kathy Wallace at 803-627-0598.
▪ A live narrated outdoor Easter scene will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. March 10-12 in the Food Lion parking lot on Springdale Road, Rock Hill. The event, sponsored by Oakdale and Park Ridge Baptist churches, depicts the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The scene repeats every 30 minutes. Free and open to the public.
▪ Bethel United Methodist Church soup kitchen is open 11 a.m. Thursdays through March at the church, 1232 Curtis St., Rock Hill. Open to the community. Donations accepted.
Entertainment
▪ Fort Mill Community Playhouse presents “The Honky Tonk Angels,” a musical revue at its new location, 220 Main St. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, March 11-12 and 17-19 with matinees at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 13 and 20. Tickets are $16, adults; $13, students and available at Tega Cay Pharmacy and Crossing on Main.
Rolling in Rock Hill
▪ Rock Hill Neighborhood Empowerment Office is accepting nominations from low to moderate income, elderly residents and individuals with disabilities for the 2016 Rolling In Rock Hill Paint Project Sept. 17. Applications are available at cityofrockhill.com/neighborhood on the Rolling In Rock Hill page, or call Dorene Boular at 803-325-2527 or Dorene.boular@cityofrockhill.com. Homes must be owner-occupied and located in the city limits. Homeowner must be in the low-to-moderate income bracket, an elderly resident or physically unable to paint your own home.
Heating assistance
▪ The York County office of Carolina Community Actions, 546 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, is accepting applications to assist income eligible families with heating bills and other programs and services. Eligible families can receive assistance with their home heating bills up to $1,000 through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Additional services include HVAC unit repairs or replacement. The General Emergency Assistance Program provides assistance with water bills, rent or mortgage assistance. Funding for self-sufficiency programs provides tuition for educational certificates, job training,employment, medicines and child care assistance. For information, call 803-366-5537.
