York police plan first Citizens Academy
The York Police Department is accepting applications for its first Citizens Academy.
The academy will be seven sessions offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, April 13 to June 1. It will end with a formal graduation on June 8.
The academy will introduce participants to the functions of the department. It will feature instruction by staff from different divisions.
The goals are to provide an overview of the department, to create partnerships with residentsand give the department the ability to better serve residents through the open exchange of information.
The academy is free and is open to adults 18 and older. Applications are available from the department and can be sent by emailing Lt. Gary Messer at gmesser@yorkcitysc.com.
