Mount Vernon UMC plans tea cup auction
Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove will hold its annual tea cup auction on Friday, March 20.
Shopping and dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., with the auction beginning at 7 p.m.
The cost is $7, which includes a meal and two auction tickets. Additional tickets are 50 cents each. Participants will be asked to write their name on the tickets, and may bring stick-on labels for this purpose.
The meal includes a baked potato/salad bar, dessert and a drink. Proceeds go to the church building fund. For information, call Patsy Proctor at 803-925-2326.
Church holding yard sale March 21
The Good Samaritan United Methodist Women will hold a yard sale 7 a.m.-1 p.m. March 21 at the church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road.
Sausage biscuits, hot dogs and baked goods will be available.
Smyrna church plans benefit for heart candidate
Canaan United Methodist Church, Canaan Church Road, Smyrna, will host a benefit ride for Tina Falls, a heart transplant candidate, at 9 a.m. March 28.
The ride will begin at the church. Registration is $20 for one rider and $25 for two riders, which includes a T-shirt.

Clover AME Zion plans No Fear Sunday

Program on Messiah set for April 1
The Journey at Lake Wylie presents Messiah in the Passover at 7 p.m. April 1.

Session offered on how to pray
Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, is offering Teaching Children to Pray 2-5 p.m. March 22.
Learn what is appropriate for different ages, simple prayer and what to say when prayers aren’t answered.
Class is open to adults, too, even those without children in their lives. Consider it baby-steps to prayer for the adult learner.

Young Life of York County is at work with teens in the community, providing leaders to help them make wise decisions.
Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope for tomorrow. Adult studies begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by dinner in the gym at 6:15 p.m. with children and adult classes starting at 7 p.m. Dinner costs $6 for adults and $3 for children.

New Life Purpose offering Bible study, therapy sessions
New Life Purpose Christian Ministries offers Community Conventional Bible Studies at 7 p.m. Thursdays at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Steele Creek.
The Rev. Ricou L. Williams of New Life Purpose said the aim is to provide participants with more than the average traditional Bible lesson by discussing methods used to evaluate and develop a concept of Biblical studies from a Theological perspective.
New Life Purpose also is holding Take 2 Enhancement sessions to help people dealing with substance abuse or mental health instabilities in therapeutic groups to enhance recovery. These sessions will cater to family members with loved ones suffering from these conditions and individuals considering careers working with substance abuse and mental health issues. North Carolina Mental Health Consumers and National Alliance for Mental Illness will help facilitate these sessions.
The health organizations are also offering certifications for licensure for peer support specialists and social work services.
