4-H registering for day camps

4-H Youth Development of Clemson Extension Service in York County will offer several day camps this summer.

▪ 10 a.m.-noon June 9: 4-H Ag & Art. Paint farm animals and gain self-confidence. For ages 9 and older. Cost: $15.

▪ 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 10: 4-H Bread & Birdhouses. Learn about birds, build birdhouses and bake bread. For ages 8 and older. Cost: $15.

▪ 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 11: 4-H Pasta. Learn how to make homemade pasta and sides to make a complete Italian inspired meal. For ages 8 and older. Cost: $10.

▪ 9 a.m.-noon June 22-26: 4-H Beginners Camp Sew. Learn to sew, which can open up new job opportunities. Fore ages 9-14. Cost: $30, includes starter kit.

4-H offering beekeeping camp

4-H Youth Development, a part of Clemson Extension Service in York County, will host a beekeeping camp 10 a.m.-1 p.m. July 28-29 for ages 5 to 19 at the York Extension Office 120 N. Congress St.

Campers will learn the basics of beekeeping, bee’s jobs in the colony including how pollination takes place, the parts of the hive, the equipment beekeepers use, and how honey is extracted. Campers will receive resources to take home and a sample of honey.

MYCO plans pottery event

The Museum of York County’s inaugural event, “Pottery & Panache,” will be 5-8 p.m. May 28. It will feature nine of the regions finest potters along with live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres spotlighting Certified SC Foods, museum store specials and door prizes.

Locally handcrafted goods will be available for bidding during a silent auction hosted by the Museum Guild. The Museum Store will be filled with unique local goods and pottery for purchase.

The following potters will be available to discuss their work: Bob Hasselle, Katherine Petke, Hope Fregerio, John & Jan Myers, Christine White, Jonathan Williams, Pam Bailey, Patricia Gambino and Tom Tack.

Tickets: $15, members and $20, general admission. Space is limited. For tickets call Doris Vanbenschoten at 803-981-9182. A $2 discount is available to those registering in advance.

PATH needs drivers to pick up food

PATH, or People Attempting to Help in York, a basic needs and food assistance agency, needs new volunteer drivers.

The agency needs teams of two people to drive to the Second Harvest food bank in Charlotte one Friday a month to shop for groceries for the food pantry.

Arts Council offering summer camps

The Arts Council of York County offers week-long, half-day summer art camps for children ages 6 and older with a focus on the visual, literary and performing arts.

The camps run from June 15-July 24 at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St.; Gettys Art Center, 201 E. Main St.; and at the Community Performance Center, 249 E. Main St.

Camps fees are $75 for Arts Council members and $85 for the public. The deadline for camp registration is two weeks before camp starts. View the full schedule of camps and registration form at yorkcountyarts.org.
