Kinard students celebrate police in summer reading program
Students in the summer reading program at Kinard Elementary School in Clover learned about police work from Clover police Lt. F.M. Sadler.
The reading program, with the theme Every Hero has a Story, is introducing students to police officers, firefighters and others, said Rebecca Crute, director of the Kinard program. The program meets once a week and focuses on on a different type of hero, she said.
Sadler visited the school Thursday morning and talked to students about how police officers work. The students saw his police vehicle and tried on a bulletproof police vest. Crute read the students a story about police officers.
The free weekly reading program is being offered at all Clover elementary schools this summer, and is open to all students in the school, Crute said.
