First Baptist Church plans fish fry, bake sale

First Baptist Church, 102 S. Congress St., York, will host a youth mission fish fry and bake sale benefit from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at the church fellowship hall.

Plates are $9. They include fish and chicken strips or a combination. Plates also include french fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. A drink is included with eat-in orders only.

The meal is catered by Catfish Cove. Proceeds go to the youth mission fund.

Clover Wesleyan plans vacation Bible school

​Vacation Bible school at Clover Wesleyan Church, 102 Parkview Lane, Clover, will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15.

Clover church plans auction, meal

Clover AME Zion Church, 750 Kings Mountain St. in Clover, will have a Chinese auction Aug. 15.

Drop-off time is 11 a.m., and the auction will begin at 12:40 p.m.

First Baptist holding preschool sign ups

The First Baptist Church preschool in York is still enrolling for the five-day 4-year-old preschool program. For information, call the church office at 803-684-4297.

Donate to youth missions yard sale

The River Hills Community Church youth group will hold a yard sale 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 15 at 103 Hamilton’s Ferry Road.

The group is accepting drop-off donations in the Life Center 8 a.m.-noon Aug. 1 and 8 and 6-9 p.m. Aug. 11 and 13.

No televisions, mattresses and computers; laptops and small electronics acceptable. Arrange to pick up larger items by calling the church office at 803-831-1615. Donations are tax deductible.

Adults needed for outreach

Young Life of York County is working with teens in the community to leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ.

Faith-based support for LGBT community

Affirmation of York County is a newly formed support group for people in faith communities who seek support and understanding for themselves and others in working through the issues confronted by gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, their families and their friends.

Library to host breakfast

The Billy Graham Library will hold Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast 8-11 a.m. Aug. 14.

Law enforcement officers are invited to a complimentary continental breakfast, hear a special guest speaker and take a guided Journey of Faith tour. Reservations are required; admission is free.

Register now for Bible study

Community Bible Study – an international, interdenominational, in-depth Bible study – meets 9 a.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 16 at River Hills Community Church.

The study is for women and their children through high school age

The 30-week study of Daniel and Revelation costs $25 for adults and $10 for children, and includes lesson books.
