Sharon UMC plans hot dog supper

Sharon United Methodist Church, Shannon Street, Sharon, will have a hot dog supper from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 19 with hot dogs, brats and all the fixings and desserts.

Donations are accepted.

Community invited to conference Oct. 3

The Journey at Lake Wylie, 5415 Highway 557, will host a free conference for the community on The Amazing Power of Prayer from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 3.

Conference leaders are Jesse and Elizabeth Enns of Antioch International Church in Charlotte. The Enns moved here from Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2005.

Both are musicians, song writers and worship leaders having released their first worship album in 2009. In 2010, they began a nonprofit ministry called the Power Fund, which helps provide funding for the poor, orphan, widows and emergency relief during catastrophes.

The conference goal is to unite to pray for one another, churches, families, country and the cause of Christ throughout the world.

“We hope and pray our community will come together and unite in prayer,” said Pastor Kenny Ashley of The Journey.

Journey at Lake Wylie also will hold a yard and bake sale 7 a.m.-noon Oct. 10 in the life center. A painted and re-purposed furniture section will be a feature of this year’s event. The church is accepting donations for this fundraising event.

Good Sam UMC hosting simulcast Sept. 26

Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, will hold Beth Moore’s Living Proof Simulcast 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 26.

Bill Graham Library to hold events

Former pro baseball players and real estate entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham, authors of “Whatever the Cost,” return to the Billy Graham Library for the Men’s Breakfast and Tour Sept. 19.

Men of all ages are invited for a buffet breakfast and a guided tour of the Billy Graham Library. Space is limited. Advance reservations and payment are required by Sept. 17. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased by calling 704-401-3256 or visit BillyGrahamLibrary.org.

▪ 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 20: Ladies Night Out with a preview of the annual Christmas at the Library at the Billy Graham Library. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and be among the first to see the library’s Christmas decorations and hear an encouraging message from Kendra Graham, wife of evangelist Will Graham. ▪ Billy Graham Library is partnering with the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, N.C., for a special exhibit – “North Carolina’s Favorite Son: Billy Graham and His Remarkable Journey of Faith” – Nov. 6-July 10. Through interactive displays, multimedia and memorabilia, visitors can retrace Billy Graham’s steps through history and discover his faith and leadership at work during the Cold War, the battle against segregation, and through unprecedented partnerships with churches around the world.

Interdenominational event planned

Seeking God Together, a multicultural and interdenominational gathering of Christians to pray for revival and spiritual awakening, will be 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Rock Hill Bible Fellowship Church, 1366 Amelia Ave.

Other organizing churches are First Baptist, Lake Wylie Lutheran, Mount Hebron Baptist, First Calvary Baptist, Neely’s Creek ARP, Westminster Presbyterian and St. Barnabas Anglican, along with the York Baptist Association. This is the group’s fifth countywide gathering.

Regeneration Church to host services

Regeneration Church Family Worship, North Congress Street, York, is a new nondenominational church that will have services at 11 a.m. Sundays.

Children’s church is available.

First Baptist holding preschool sign ups

The First Baptist Church preschool in York is still enrolling children in the five-day 4-year-old preschool program. For information, call the church office at 803-684-4297.

Adults needed for outreach

Young Life of York County is working with teens in the community to leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ.

Affirmation of York County is a support group for people in faith communities who seek support and understanding for themselves and others in working through the issues confronted by gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, their families and their friends.

Register now for Bible study

Community Bible Study – an international, interdenominational, in-depth Bible study – meets 9 a.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 16 at River Hills Community Church.

The study is for women and their children through high school age.

The 30-week study of Daniel and Revelation costs $25 for adults and $10 for children, and includes lesson books.
