Mount Vernon UMC plans fall bazaar

Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove will have its fall bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The event will include a buffet breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. with sausage, bacon, eggs, grits, gravy and jelly biscuits. Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will include hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken stew.

Shopping begins at 8 a.m. The country store will include homemade baked goods, such as pies, cakes, cookies, brownies, angel biscuits, cheese rings, relish and jellies.

Frozen casseroles will be sold, including chicken, hamburger, baked spaghetti, grater tater, mac and cheese and sweet potato.

Handmade crafts will include seasonal decorations, painted windows, Clemson and USC items, baby gifts and more.

Abiding Presence plans yard sale

Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, North Congress Street, York, will have a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. The sale will include furniture, electronics, tools, toys, clothes, plants and yard accessories.

Philadelphia UMC plans craft bazaar

The crafters of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2260 Chester Highway, York, will host a Christmas and craft bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.

A full breakfast will be served beginning at 7:15 a.m. for $6 per person, and a hot dog lunch will begin at 11 a.m.

Lifeway church plans craft event

Lifeway Church, 114 S. Congress St., York, will host a trunk-or-treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

The church will host the second annual Craftacular event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 25. Inside booth rental is $25 and outside booth rental is $15. For information, call Jennifer at 803-627-6501.

New Home AME Zion plans food distribution

New Home AME Zion Church, Charlotte Highway, York, will have a mobile food drive at 8 a.m. Oct. 31 until all food boxes are given out.

Bring a valid ID; there is a limit of one box per household.

Oakdale Presbyterian plans harvest sale

Oakdale Presbyterian Church, 12585 S.C. 55 West, Clover, will host its annual harvest sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

Oakdale’s famous beef hash will be sold, for eat in or take out. Hamburgers and hamburger steak plates also will be available.

Divine Saviour church plans spaghetti supper

Divine Saviour Catholic Church, 232 Herndon Ave., York will have its 55th annual spaghetti dinner Oct. 30 and 31.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 for take-out only, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 for eat in or take out.

Cost is $8 for a spaghetti meal or a quart of meat sauce. For details, call 803-684-3431.

Church youth selling pumpkins

River Hills Community Church youth have a pumpkin patch outside the life center with proceeds going to the church’s capital campaign drive.

Pumpkins will be sold through Oct. 31.

Hours are: noon-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Women’s Conference Oct. 16-18

Lake Wylie Christian Assembly Church, 5766 Charlotte Highway, will hold a Women’s Conference Oct. 16-18 with guest speaker Sherry Gaither.

Activities includes Friday evening service, Saturday Breast Cancer awareness walk, vendor marketplace, workshops, Sunday morning and evening services. There also will be workshops for teen girls.

Registration fee is $30 and includes lunch on Saturday. Teen registration is $10. Child care provided for ages 11 and younger.

The community is invited to join the walk Saturday morning to bring awareness to breast cancer and support survivors.

Bill Graham Library to hold events

Events at the Billy Graham Library are:

▪ 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 20: Ladies Night Out with a preview of the annual Christmas at the Library at the Billy Graham Library. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and be among the first to see the library’s Christmas decorations and hear an encouraging message from Kendra Graham, wife of evangelist Will Graham. ▪ Billy Graham Library is partnering with the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, N.C., for a special exhibit – “North Carolina’s Favorite Son: Billy Graham and His Remarkable Journey of Faith” – Nov. 6-July 10. Through interactive displays, multimedia and memorabilia, visitors can retrace Billy Graham’s steps through history and discover his faith and leadership at work during the Cold War, the battle against segregation, and through unprecedented partnerships with churches around the world.

Churches holding trunk or treat events

Ramah women plan bus trip

The ladies of Ramah Presbyterian Church, 980 Ramah Church Road, York, are planning a Nov. 7 bus trip to the Barn Dinner Theatre in Greensboro, N.C.

The group will depart from the church at 8:30 a.m. and return at approximately 5:30 p.m.. During the trip, they will have a buffet meal and see a show titled “Salute to America,” which is part of “Branson on the Road.”

Community Cafe serves lunch Tuesdays

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays.

Adults needed for outreach

Young Life of York County is working with teens in the community to leaders to help them make wise decisions.

Young Life is a Christian ministry committed to making an impact on kids’ lives and giving them hope. Founded in 1941, Young Life leaders build positive relationships with young people to model and communicate the truth about Jesus Christ.
