Nation Ford wins 2016 Upper State Band title

The Nation Ford High School Band earned the chance to defend its 2015 state title after capturing the South Carolina Band Directors Association Class 4-A Upper State championship Saturday at Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg.

Northwestern High School in Rock Hill finished in second, followed by Easley, Laurens, York and Lugoff-Elgin high schools. By finishing in the top six, Nation Ford qualified for the SCBDA state 4-A championships to be held Saturday at Spring Valley High School in Columbia.

If Nation Ford can emerge as champions at Spring Valley this Saturday, it would be the school’s sixth marching band title since it opened in 2007.

The performance schedule for Saturday’s state championship competition has not been set other than the 4-A bands will perform in the evening.
