That music coming from the mountains was made in Fort Mill

The Fort Mill High School Marching band performed its show, "The Journey Home" at the Appalachian State University Marching Band Festival in Boone, N.C. Fort Mill won first place in Class 5A and awards for Best Music, Best Marching, Best General Effect, Best Percussion, Best Color Guard and won the overall Grand Championship with a score of 98.03.

Fort Mill is this Saturday's 5A state competition at Irmo High School. Fort Mill’s prelims performance time is 1 p.m. The top eight bands after prelims earn a spot in the evening finals. Everyone is invited to a special community appreciation performance/send off for Nationals at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at Bob Jones Stadium. Prior to the show, seniors will be honored at 7 p.m.
