Cops: Man who robbed Fort Mill pharmacy of Oxy pills found, arrested
Fort Mill police arrested a North Carolina man they say is the suspect in an armed robbery of a Walgreens near downtown.
At 8 p.m. on Nov. 30, a man wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and jeans with a blue bandanna covering his face walked into the Walgreens, at 1250 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, went to the pharmacy area, told an employee he was armed and demanded Oxycontin and Oxycodone tablets, according to a Fort Mill Police Department report. The employee handed over the drugs – strong pain medication that requires a doctor’s prescription – and the suspect left the store and drove off east on S.C. 160 East,the report states.
Based on information provided by witnesses, Fort Mill detectives identified the suspect as Zachary L. Junker, 25, of Concord, N.C., according to the report. the detectives obtained arrest warrants for armed robbery, and with the assistance of Concord Police Department detectives and narcotics investigators, located Junker at his home and took him into custody Dec. 1.
The store told police that Junker left with 1,316 tablets valued at $73,173.68.
Junker is in custody in the Cabarrus County Jail, awaiting extradition to South Carolina, Fort Mill police said.
