OMS seventh grade academic team wins championship
The Oakridge Middle School Academic Challenge Team traveled March 9 to USC Lancaster for the academic festival.
The seventh grade team was crowned champions of the festival. The team won the first match against South Middle School. Top scorer was GiGi Messa. Second high scorer was Olivia Martin.
OMS then beat Chester Middle School. Martin was high scorer. Mesa, Sklyer Wolf and Emma Westergard all tied for second top scorer.
The third match was played against Gold Hill. The team won 12-11. The top scorer was GiGi Mesa. Olivia Martin, Skyler Wolf, Kaitlyn Suddee and Emma Westergard tied for second place.
The Golden Eagles played for the championship game against York Middle School, going into overtime. Westergard scored the tie-breaking point. Wolf was the high scorer. Martin, Suddee, Mesa and Westergard tied for second high scorer.
The eighth grade team lost its first match to Banks Trail Middle School. High scorer was Parker Milley. Abby Renner and Michael Baldizzi tied for second high scorer.
The eighth grade team beat Clover Middle School 14-4. High scorer was Jeremy Bays. Parker Milley was second top scorer. Deanna Patrautanu and Emily Morse were valued members of the team.
Clover DECA Club members bring home top awards from state event
Clover High School DECA Club made it to the stage nine times at the S.C. State DECA Career Development Conference in Charleston.
Bethany Croat was elected DECA State Officer - VP of Business Partnerships.
Hannah Earle and Jessica Suga won the Gold Award for a Chapter Program of Work.
Noah Nissen and Brett Probert won third place in a Business Law and Ethics team event.
Isabelle Soucy Clark took third in Principles of Marketing.
Allie McConnell, Anna Keistler and Croat earned fourth for their Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan.
Sierra Lindberg won fourth place in Principles of Hospitality/Tourism.
Interact Club school supplies delivered to Honduras
Clover High School history teacher Jimmy Roach traveled to Honduras the first week in March to deliver school supplies on behalf of the Interact Club. He also helped build clean water projects with Rotary District 7750.
A sponsor of the Interact Club, Roach is a member of Clover Rotary Club.
While in Honduras, Roach visited the Mayan Ruins in Copan Ruinas and delivered the school supplies to impoverished rural schools where the water projects have been completed.
Students attend Hornets workshop
The Future Business Leaders of America and DECA club members from Clover High School attended a sports management workshop hosted by the Charlotte Hornets. They also went to a Hornets game at Time Warner Cable Arena.
‘The Music Man’ on stage
The Choraliers spring show is “The Music Man.”
Dates and times are 8 p.m. April 30 and May 2, and 3 p.m. May 3.

$500 Love Scholarship available
Applications are being accepted for the Lannie Love Educational Scholarship.
The Master Gardeners of York County $500 scholarship is open to any senior graduating from high school in York, Chester or Lancaster counties, who intends to pursue higher education in: horticulture, agriculture, landscape design, turf management, botany, greenhouse management or land management.
The scholarship is in honor of the late Lannie Love of Clover, a retired educator, avid gardener and former president of MGYC.
The application form is available in PDF format and may be downloaded at yorkmg.org/scholarship. The deadline to apply is April 3.
