Galways join symphony

Charlotte Symphony with flutist Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway, 7:30 p.m. March 24, Belk Theater, Charlotte. Belfast-born Sir James is regarded as the supreme interpreter of the classical flute repertoire and a consummate entertainer whose appeal crosses musical boundaries. He will join the Charlotte Symphony to perform Mozart’s “Flute Concerto No. 2.” As a special treat, flutist Lady Jeanne Galway, will join Sir James on stage for Cimarosa’s “Concerto for Two Flutes.” Tickets start at $39. charlottesymphony.org

Hear cellist

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the end of the War Between the States, living historian Colleen Pappas will discuss the effects of the war on women and families in South Carolina, the living conditions at the end of the war, the social, cultural, and political changes brought about by the conflict, mourning customs, and the important events at war’s end that took place in Fort Mill, Cross Keys, and Abbeville. Meet Peter Rabbit

Peter Rabbit’s Garden Adventure, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. March 28-29, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, 6500 S. New Hope Road, Belmont. Peter Rabbit’s Garden Adventure comes right off the pages of the popular children’s tale as guests meet characters from the story, including Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail. Guests can wander throughout the garden where they will meet Peter Rabbit, listen to a story told by Mrs. Rabbit and enjoy hands-on activities.
