Habitat Global Village Trip Romania

Habitat for Humanity of York County is organizing a Global Village trip Oct. 2-11 to Comanesti, Romania.

This trip involves teams from around the world, and include free time for sightseeing and cultural activities. The deadline is March 30. The cost is $1,850, plus airfare.

Habitat for Humanity International’s mission reinforces affiliate’s commitment to the global movement to end substandard housing.

CAAC seeks pet food donations

Clover Area Assistance Center needs help to fill pet food donations.

York officer graduates federal training

York County Detention Officer Cpl. Lucas Frame graduated valedictorian March 6 from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston.

Frame was one of 24 students selected throughout the U.S. to attend the four-week training. Frame now may partner with ICE 287(g) in immigration law enforcement functions.

Frame graduated with a GPA of 99.32, attaining his ICE 287(g) Immigration Authority Delegation Officer certification.

Register for writers workshop

The Rock Hill Chapter of the South Carolina Writers Workshop will present the ninth annual Writers Intensive Workshop April 25 at Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave. This year’s theme is Writers’ Secrets Uncovered.

Each participant may choose four of 24 sessions, a panel discussion and optional critiques. Sessions are presented for beginning writers through published authors and include many genres. As an added bonus, participants will get the opportunity to meet other writers and professionals in the industry.

Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. Cost is $30 for nonmembers, and $25 for SCWW members and students age 16 and older. Lunch is included in this day-long event. Space is limited.
