Oakridge Middle softball team dominates to win 15-3

Soccer

▪ On March 16, the Oakridge Middle School boys’ soccer team beat Gold Hill 2-0 for the team’s fifth straight win of the season. The game started with Camden Largen chipping a ball to Brandon Malcolm for a touch over the keeper. The game stayed locked until Seth Curl finished a ball assisted by Ethan Stevenson. Corey Chambers had a one-on-one save in the first half to keep the lead.

▪ On March 18, OMS boys lost to Springfield Middle School 2-1. The Golden Eagles battled back from a 1-0 deficit and took control of the game. OMS tied things up when Christian Erwin crossed in a pass Brandon Malcolm finished in the last minute of the game. The game went into overtime and Springfield won with a penalty kick.

▪ The OMS Lady Golden Eagles lost 3-2 March 16 to Gold Hill. Selah Gaylor began the scoring with a pass taken from midfield from Olivia Vogt. The second half began with a score of 2-1. Oakridge scored with a penalty kick by Gaylor. Keeper Brooklyn Gunn had 10 saves.

▪ On March 18, OMS girls lost 3-1 to Springfield. Oakridge was on the scoreboard first with a goal by Selah Gaylor, passed from Addison Partin. However, Springfield responded quickly with a goal. Keeper Brooklyn Gunn had 13 saves.

Softball

The Oakridge team dominated Castle Heights on March 17 winning 15-3 in five innings. Dakota Peters pitched for the Lady Golden Eagles, striking out eight hitters and giving up zero earned runs. Leading the way offensively for Oakridge were: Dakota Peters - 2 singles, 3 RBI, 2 runs; Gwen Brochu - doubled, 2 RBI, 3 runs; Emily Boudreaux - 2 runs, 2 steals; Sophia Sprouse - 2 runs, 2 steals; and Tia Kalau - 2 runs, 4 steals.

Baseball

▪ The OMS Golden Eagles lost 5-1 to Gold Hill Middle School on March 17. The team struggled to produce offensively with two hits – singles by Hunter Holland and Dennis Matias. Defensively, the Golden Eagles gave up five hits with Jake Hylinski throwing all seven innings, earning six strikeouts and giving up one walk.

▪ The Golden Eagles and Springfield baseball teams volleyed the lead four times March 18, but the Golden Eagles baseball team came out on top for a 5-3 win. Springfield had no answer for Kolby Crepeau who gave up one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his 4 1/3 innings of relief work. Billy George started the game and threw 2 and 2/3 innings, earning one strikeout and giving up two hits and two earned runs. Offensively for the Golden Eagles, Andrew Tully had two singles on the night. Also contributing for the team: Payton Barrow – single and RBI, Dennis Matias – single and RBI, Hunter Holland – single, and Billy George – RBI .
