Clover High track teams ‘represent well’ at invitational meet
The Clover High School track teams traveled to Hillcrest Saturday to compete in the Hillcrest Invitational Meet, with the boys finishing eighth and the girls seventh.
“Both teams represented Clover very well, competing against some of the better track teams in Greenville and Anderson counties,” said Jeremy Smith, head track coach for the boys and the girls.
The following scored points:
▪ Boys: Chase Hill, 400m; Ben Eyckmans, 400m; James Westerguard, 800m; Ben Clark, 1600m; Tyler Brittain, 3200m; 4-by-400 relay team; 4-by-800 relay team; Nathaniel Liscum, pole vault; Brent Courtwright, pole vault; and Austin Malcolm, shot put.
▪ Girls: Vanna Sams, 400m; Jesse Defalco, 800m, 1600m; Jaxine Hendrickson, 100m, 400m; hurdles, 4-by-400 relay team; 4-by-800 relay team; Ann Marie White, pole vault; Erin Riddle, pole vault; and Joelle Keffer, shot put.
The CHS boys and girls track participants had their final home meet last week against Gaffney. The boys’ team lost 38-97 and the girls’ team lost 61-78.
The following won their events or scored points.
▪ Boys’ winners: Ben Clark, 1600m, 3200m; Austin Malcolm, discus; Nathan Liscum, pole vault; and 4-by-400m relay team.
▪ Scored points: Colton Ennis, Tenchi Her, Chase Hill, James Westerguard, Andrew George, Gavin Jenkins and Chase Griffin.
▪ Girls’ winners: 4-by-800 relay team; Jesse Defalco, 1600m, 800m, 3200m; Vanna Sams, 400m hurdles; Joelle Keffer, discus; and Ann Marie White, pole vault.
▪ Scored points: Jaxine Hendrickson, Rhiannon Plummer, Savannah Tetreault, Alexiz Allen, Cassie Caldwell, Valerie Francis, Renee Carter, Jordan Mackey and Erin Riddle.
