Rep. Tommy Pope awarded the Order of the Maltese Cross

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association honored state Rep. Tommy Pope with the Order of the Maltese Cross during the 2015 Legislative Appreciation Luncheon March 25 at the State House Grounds.

Pope also was inducted into the 2015 class of the Society of the Maltese Cross.

Also honored were Sen. Paul Thurmond and Rep. David Weeks.

The program was created in 2010. The Maltese cross symbolizes the traditions and values held by firefighters. The Maltese Cross is worn on the uniforms of firefighters across South Carolina.

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association recognizes General Assembly members who share those values and who have supported the South Carolina firefighters in their vision and goals.

Pope was elected to the S.C. House in 2010 to serve District 47, which includes parts of Lake Wylie, and he is the House Speaker Pro Tempore. He also is managing partner at Elrod Pope Law Firm in Rock Hill. He can be reached at 803-324-7574.
