Religion news: Churches planning suppers with music and spring revivals

Philadelphia UMC plans supper, singing

A family night supper with singing by Gene Black and family is April 15 at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2260 Chester Highway.

Dinner of spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink starts at 6:30 p.m. Singing begins at 7:30 p.m.

Donations will be accepted for Relay for Life.

York church plans spring revival

Haven of Rest Baptist Church on Connolly Road will host a spring revival at 7 p.m. April 16-18 with the Rev. Matt Burrell.

Nightly music by Jeremy Edens, The Brothers and Sisters and the Bullock Creek Cowboy Church Band.

Graham Library holding Ladies Tea and Tour

Amber Brantly will serve as the keynote speaker for this year’s annual Ladies Tea and Tour at the Billy Graham Library with two seatings at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. April 18.

In 2014, Brantly’s family made world news as her husband Dr. Kent Brantly, a medical missionary serving in Liberia with Samaritan’s Purse, contracted the Ebola virus.

The event includes canapés and desserts, teas, musical entertainment and a guided tour of the Billy Graham Library. Advance reservations and payment are required by April 17. Preferred seating costs $40; regular seating, $30.

Other upcoming events are scheduled.

▪ 1-3 p.m. April 25: Book signing with David and Jason Benham. Authors, speakers and real estate entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham will sign copies of their new book, “Whatever the Cost.”

▪ 8 a.m. May 8-9: Mother’s Day Breakfast and Tour. Families are invited to treat mom to a breakfast buffet followed by a guided Journey of Faith tour. Each mother receives a gift. Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. each day, with the event running through 10 a.m. Advance reservations and payment are required by May 7. Tickets cost $20 per person, 3 and younger get in free.

Learn about Take 2 programs

New Life Purpose Ministries and Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church will hold a meeting at 3 p.m. April 25 on the Take 2 Enhancement programs at 15000 York Road.

Topics of discussion will address areas of homelessness, eviction, unemployment, daycare, transportation, discouragement and frustration, lack of motivation, depression, chemical dependency and displacement or lack of family support.

Local agency support is sought and women interested in supporting this mission.

Church to hold family movie nights

Christ the King Church will hold three free family movie nights this summer.

Popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for $1 each. Children younger than age 12 must be accompanied by adult.

▪ 6:30 p.m. June 20; Lawn games will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by “Big Hero 6” at 7:30 p.m. on the lawn. In case of rain, movie will be shown inside.

▪ 5:30 p.m. July 11: Showing “The Lego Movie” inside.

▪ 5:30 p.m. Aug. 29: Showing “McFarland” inside.

Community Cafe serves lunch Tuesdays

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays.
