Tour mill being redeveloped at chamber event
Montcross Area Chamber members will hold networking and tours of the historic Chronicle Mill 5:30-7 p.m. April 23 at 96 E. Catawba St.
The 113-year-old former textile mill is in the early stage of redevelopment to include a large event venue, commercial office and retail space and possibly, a hotel. Owners John and Jennifer Church of Cramerton will reveal development plans.

County chamber hosts ribbon cutting April 24
York County Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold these events:
▪ noon April 24: Ribbon cutting for Direct Auto, 2397 Cherry Road, Rock Hill. Customer Appreciation Day includes a sweepstakes, in-store celebration and a video series highlighting customer stories.
▪ 6:15 p.m. April 27: Fort Mill Education & Volunteer Awards Program. The event includes awards for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Civic Volunteer and Public Safety and Awareness Service Award. Clover farm open house April 25
Rock Ridge Farm, 524 Ridge Road, will host an open house and farm day 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 25. Owners are Dave and Bonita Horne.
The free event, held rain or shine at the farm’s cabin, will feature sustainable living practices and demonstrations.
The schedule will include beekeeping at 9:30 a.m., blacksmith demonstration at 10 a.m., live honey bee demonstration at 11 a.m., log hewing at 11:30 a.m. and smokehouse demonstration at12:30 p.m.
Items made by local artisans will be sold, including soap, pottery, honey and reclaimed wood items. Featured USDA-inspected food products include grass-fed beef, free-range chickens, pork and sausage and eggs.

Artists plan Mother’s Day sale
A Mother’s Day art sale sponsored by local artists will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 25 at the McConnells Community Center, 189 Church St., near Olivet Presbyterian Church.
The sale will include original paintings, prints, cards, crafts, pottery, jewelry and photography. All paintings are less than $200. Payment must be cash or check; no cards accepted.

Family Trust shredding documents April 25
Family Trust Federal Credit Union and Shred It Document Management will provide free document shredding 9 a.m.-noon April 25 as part of Earth Day Birthday at the Museum of York County on Mount Gallant Road.
Shredding will be provided for personal and business documents in trucks located at Mount Gallant Elementary School. Staples, rubber bands, folders and paper clips do not need to be removed before shredding. Destroyed documents will go to a paper recycling plant.
Earth Day Birthday will feature activities, games, a 4-H petting zoo and more than 30 educational exhibits with hands-on environmental lessons.

Garden kicks off spring with events
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden officially kicks off Spring Sprouts on April 27 with featured plant vendors, garden walks and garden talks.
At 1 p.m. Saturdays, the garden features a horticulture walk led by a staff member.
At 1 p.m. Sundays, the garden features a speaker from Microfarm Organic Gardens with a focus on topics in horticulture such as composting and organic vegetable gardening.
Lawn games and wine tastings also are featured on weekends this month.

County chamber bring Leadercast to Rock Hill
Thanks to the York County Regional Chamber, community and business leaders can attend Leadercast at 9 a.m. May 8 at Winthrop University in Rock Hill.
The Leadercast event, coordinated by the chamber’s young professionals network, YP Edge, is broadcast from Atlanta, to hundreds of sites around the world, including York County. This year’s speaker lineup includes: Andy Stanley, leadership author and communicator; Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Laureate and founder of The Malala Fund; Ed Catmull, president of Pixar & Disney Animation Studios; Seth Godin, best-selling author; Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City; Aja Brown, mayor of the city of Compton, Calif.; Bill McDermott, CEO of SAP AG; Cmdr. Rorke Denver, Navy SEAL commander and author; Bill and Giuliana Rancic, media personalities and co-hosts of Leadercast.
Tickets cost $65 per person for early registration and include admittance to the program, lunch and refreshments, and access to event sponsors.

KL Creative opens summer camp registration
KL Creative offers innovative summer camps starting the week of June 15 and running through Aug. 10 in Lake Wylie.
This year, digital photography camp includes marine photography by boat on the lake with a licensed captain and runs 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for ages 8 and older.
Guest artists include New York photographer Deena Feinberg teaching The Art of I-phoneography. Learn about composing in-camera and demonstrating the artistic possibilities within the darkroom in the phone. This camp is available 1-3 p.m. the week of July 6 for ages 10 and older. Campers can use an iPhone, iPod or iPad to take pictures and will be supplied with an iTunes card to download apps.
Local artist Rose Grigg, a nationally board certified art educator with a bachelor’s in fine arts and master’s in art education, will return to lead hands-on art explorations using mixed media, paper sculpture, printmaking and painting. Her class meets 1-3 p.m. the weeks of July 13 and July 20 for ages for ages 6-12.
During the weeks of Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, Isabel Shankel, Danish Yogini, will lead Yoda + Yoga 1-3 p.m. for ages 8 and older. This meditation and yoga practice was created for children to learn flexibility, strength, focus and relaxation.
