Catawba Catfish Club sees 97.5 pounds at scales

The Catawba Catfish Club held its eighth tournament of the season April 11 on Lake Wateree with 37 boats.

There were 76 anglers fishing for a pot of $1,520, said organizer Marty Green. The top five spots were paid out.

“All were greeted with a morning low at the ramps of 66 degrees,” he said. “Temps rose in the afternoon to around 82. Water temp was 69-70 with 5-10 mph winds. In the end, the bite proved to be decent for most anglers with 32 of 37 boats weighing in fish.”

After all weights were calculated Team Get the Net of Harry and Jamie Dickerson picked up the win with a three-fish stringer of 97.50 pounds for $608. They also won the Big Fish Pot with a 43.80-pound blue and collected $370.

The next tournament will be held 6 a.m.-3 p.m. May 9 on Lake Wylie at Buster Boyd Access Area. The weigh in is at 3:30 p.m.

Tournament sponsors are Boat Sales of Lake Wylie, Fish Bite Rod Holders, Jamie K Outdoors, Sea Tow, Q2U BBQ Pit, Kangaroo Express and Pepsi.
