Good fish bite leads to win of more than 18 pounds on Lake Wylie
The Thursday Night Tournament Trail saw a good turnout April 16.
“We had more than half the field weighing in fish,” said event co-organizer Erwin Gaston.
“The sign up period was interrupted with a brief shower, which helped wash away some of the pollen,” he said. “Once the rain passed, the night turned out really nice.”
Adam Filmore and Shane Lineberger brought 18.47 pounds of bass to the scales and had the big fish of the night, which weighed in at 5.10 pounds.
Second place went to the team of Shawn Wallace and Brandon Chandler with 16.27 pounds.
“The bait of the night seemed to be a jig and wake bait, but that is the fisherman’s story,” Gaston said.
The trail is sponsored by Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency.
Tournaments are help Thursdays through Aug. 27. Registration runs 5:30-6:20 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blast off is at 6:30 p.m. and weigh-in at 11 p.m. The two-night Championship Fish-off is Sept. 11-12.
