Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden honors volunteers for service

Charlotte’s Tom Medford put in as many hours as a volunteer at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden last year as many part-time workers put in for pay.

Medford and 140 other volunteers were honored for the more than 7,300 hours. Medford, who typically works with members of the horticulture staff, volunteered more than 600 hours at the garden last year.

Other volunteers recognized for milestones include: 10 years, Doug Grant of Rock Hill; five years, Bob and Debbie Bailey, Linda Gomes, all of Clover, John Caceci and Todd Smith, both of Charlotte, Greg Chacharon and Ann Mozingo, both of Lake Wylie, Joyce Hartsell of Belmont, Gail Ice of York, Dave Stoimenoff of Gastonia; 50-plus hours, Claudia Bach of Clover, Karen Gibson, Dick Ifkovits and Jay Nelson, all of Lake Wylie, June Hooks of Gastonia, Gail Ice of York; 200-plus hours, Barbara Foulk of Belmont, George Hooks of Gastonia, Andrew Sautter of Lake Wylie; 300-plus hours, George Anderson of Gastonia, Mike Pasiecznyk of Belmont; 500-plus hours, Greg Chacharon of Lake Wylie.
