Rohrer learns under pro at clinic
Scott Rohrer of Lake Wylie participated in an April 14 Bank of America Special Olympics Golf Experience at Plantation Golf Club at Sea Pines Resort.
PGA Pro Ben Crane joined 25 Special Olympics athletes for a skills clinic and friendly competition.
Rohrer started participating in Special Olympics at age 6 in soccer and track . He started playing golf at age 7. He won his first national level gold in 2005 at the Iowa National Invitational. He has since won in Florida, Nebraska, Arizona and New Jersey.
Scott and his parents, Elizabeth and Jeff, were selected to be on Team South Carolina for the 2014 Special Olympic USA Games in New Jersey. In the past year, he competed at the USA Games, where he won gold shooting 76,78,78. He finished third in the First World Cup of Golf in Helsinore, Denmark.
Rohrer has been invited to play in Pro Am events at the AT&T National at Congressional and Tiger Wood's Challenge at Sherwood Country Club.
He works full time with his dad for Rohrer Tree Care.
Lake Wylie duo finish 78, 72
Carolinas Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball Tournament posts results for recent tournaments.
On April 13 at Catawba Country Club in Newton, N.C., Harold Fisher and Tom Bookmiller, both of Lake Wylie, finished 39-39 - 78 in flight A.
On April 14 at Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club in Morganton, N.C., Fisher and Bookmiller finished 35-37 - 72 in the Super Senior 65 and older flight.
Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club.

Live Well Clover 5K April 25
The first Live Well Clover 5K Run/Walk will be held at 8 a.m. April 25 at First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main St.
Early registration costs $20; day of is $25. Day of registration opens at 7 a.m. Fee includes T-shirt.
Live Well Clover is a volunteer based effort aimed at growing a healthy and active Clover community.

Marathon May 2 at Kings Mountain parks
Kings Mountain Marathon and Half Marathon start at 8 a.m. May 2.
Race covers a rolling hills course through the state and national parks.
There will be food vendors and music 10 a.m.-noon.

Hall of Fame induction May 12 in Rock Hill
The York County Sports Hall of Fame will celebrate its 14th induction ceremony May 12 at the Events at Manchester, 1965 Cinema Drive.
The six inductees are Tom Crump, Tommy Gaither, Chris Hope, Johnathan Joseph, Debora Osbourne and Ben Watson.
Tickets cost $25, available at Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Baxter Hood Center at 452 S. Anderson Road.
Bill Neely, chairman of the Rock Hill Sports Council and Ed Thompson, director of the Rock Hill PRT, organized the York County Sports Hall of Fame. In May 1998, the first induction was held with seven inductees. The induction ceremonies continued every year until 2007. Since 2007, the event occurs every two years.

Lake Wylie Bowl N’ Bounce adds two leagues.
▪ Senior Bowling League meets at 10 a.m. Mondays for men and women age 50 and older of all experience levels. Come as individual or bring a team.
▪ Fellowship Bowling League meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring a team from church or come as an individual.
