She wants the top office in South Carolina. York County is about to find out why.

Her run for South Carolina’s top office includes a stop in Lake Wylie. And she isn’t likely to be the last.

The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women club is hosting Catherine Templeton, candidate for South Carolina governor, at its Jan. 26 meeting. Lunch is at noon at River Hills Country Club, for $20. Guests can reserve seats by emailing drmaedwards@live.com by Jan. 23.

Templeton is a Wofford College and University of South Carolina law school graduate who lives in Charleston. Her public service includes state Secretary of Labor and director of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She is one of several Republican candidates for governor.

The local club is finalizing details to host Gov. Henry McMaster in February and Lt. Gov. Kevin Bryant in March.

Official candidate filing runs March 16-30. Statewide primaries follow June 12, followed by the general election Nov. 6.
