The annual free Downtown Live concert series on in York has begun in a new location in the front lawn of the Greater York Chamber of Commerce, across from the York library.
Paul Boger, executive director of the chamber, said event leaders think the new location at 23 E. Liberty St. is more visible. In the past, the concerts have been in the parking lot of Whitesides Cleaners on Congress Street.
“It would make it nice for people to sit on the grass or bring a blanket to sit on or chairs,” Boger said. “And we felt like a grass surface would make it a little cooler.
“For those reasons, we felt like it would create a little more welcoming, pleasant atmosphere, and maybe we would end up with more people who would come out and enjoy the music.”
