The first principal in Nation Ford High School history is leaving the school and the Fort Mill School District to take an administrative position in York School District No. 1.
Beverley Bowman, who opened NaFo in 2007, will be the new assistant superintendent for instruction and administration in York.
Jason Johns, principal at Banks Trail Middle School for the past two years, will succeed Bowman at Nation Ford, Fort Mill school officials said Thursday. Prior to coming to Fort Mill, Johns served as an assistant principal at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill.
Succeeding Johns at Banks Trail will be Springfield Middle School Assistant Principal Michael Pratt, officials said. Prior to his position at Springfield, Pratt served in Clover and Chester schools before becoming assistant principal at Orchard Park Elementary in Fort Mill, where he stayed for 12 years.

“Congratulations certainly are in order for Beverley,” Fort Mill Superintendent of Schools Chuck Epps said.
“It’s been a career goal of hers to advance to the next level and work with curriculum. I’m sure it’s mixed feelings on her part because she opened (Nation Ford). It was her baby.”
Epps said Bowman and her husband Bob, who owns Fort Mill Barbecue, plan to stay in Fort Mill, where their children attend local schools.
The appointment of Johns to succeed Bowman at NaFo “is a good fit,” Epps said.
“I feel so fortunate that we have such a rich pool of talent to choose from,” Epps said.
“Jason is a people person, a student person, he’s good with parents and I look forward to him (taking over). It’s just a good fit all the way around.”
