Lions induct board members
At its monthly breakfast meeting June 20, the River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club congratulated outgoing president Lee Rowley and welcomed in a new slate of officers for the coming year.
The new club president is Len Fleet. He is joined by the following board members: Bessie Meeks, Peter Tucker, Jamie Henrickson, Susan Thomas, Martin Lewis, Derek Lewis, Don Jeffries, Gwen Bussey, George Ling, HankGerald and Bud Rother. Lee Rowley will remain on as immediate past president.
The Lions are waiving the club’s traditional $40 fee for retired or honorably discharged personnel from the U.S. military. For membership information, call 803-831-0911.
July 7 deadline for Master Gardener class in York
The application deadline for Master Gardener training for York, Chester and Lancaster counties is July 7.
Classes are held 9 a.m.-noon Tuesdays, Aug. 4-Nov. 10, at the York County Clemson Extension office, 120 N. Congress St.

Historical society to meet in Rock Hill
York County Genealogical & Historical Society will meet at 3 p.m. July 12 at The White Home, corner of East White Street and Elizabeth Lane, Rock Hill.
The White Home is a farmhouse in downtown Rock Hill that predates the founding of Rock Hill. Five generations of the White family lived there, beginning in 1839. In recent years, it has been acquired and restored by Historic Rock Hill, a nonprofit preservation organization.
The normal admission fee will not be charged for this meeting.
4-H creating alumni directory
4-H Youth Development, a part of Clemson Extension Service in York County, is compiling a directory of 4-H Alumni.
The hopes of compiling the directory is to reach out to alumni to see how the program is thriving and revamp their interest if it has been lost during the years. Email fisreal@clemson.edu or asmccar@clemson.edu, or call 803-684-9919.
