1995
▪ Reporters from Charlotte TV stations and local newspapers seemed disappointed that the annual Fourth of July firing of the cannon in Confederate Park did not break the windows of the Fort Mill Times, as it had in years past.
▪ Video poker parlors in South Carolina closed their doors after the state Supreme Court refused to grant a delay sought by the industry.
▪ The Fort Mill swim team finished the season undefeated with a 297-136 victory against the Rock Hill YMCA swimmers.
▪ A 20-year-old Fort Mill man died as a result of a single vehicle wreck at I-77 and Carowinds Boulevard. Another Fort Mill man, 21, was seriously injured.

1955
▪ Bobby Plair, director of the George Fish School band, issued a call for any students in seventh to 12th grades who were interested in playing in the band, to attend a meeting.
▪ The Fort Mill Lions Club held its regular meeting at Brandon’s Grill, at U.S. 21 and U.S. 21 Business, and then under police escort, proceeded to Charlotte where they toured the new building of WBT and WBTV.
1935
▪ Excavating at his home on Confederate Street, J.B. Mills unearthed part of a wall of the old baptismal pool used by the Fort Mill Baptist Church.
▪ Major F.M. Mack was selected to succeed himself as superintendent of the Fort Mill Schools. Agnes Link was elected as a teacher in the primary grades.
