Small turnout but good catches at July 23 fishing tourney on Lake Wylie
The summer heat has affected the turnout for Thursday Night Tournament Trail July 23 on Lake Wylie, event organizer Erwin Gaston said.
“We had 27 boats show up for the tournament, which is the least we have had in a while,” said Gaston, who organizes the weekly tournament with Jeremy Cabe. “The weights are down, but the guys are still catching fish.”
Mike McDuffie and Casey West brought five largemouth bass to the scales that weighed in at 14.66 pounds for the win.
Mack Lowe and Larry Fleeman finished second with a weight of 13.94 pounds.
The big fish of the night was weighed in by Derek Lilly and Eric Barsch, tipping the scale at 5.32 pounds.
“We have five more tournaments to go before the championship,” Gaston said.
Sponsors are Dicks Sporting Goods, A-1 Adams Bail Bond Agency, AAA Plumbing, Lake Wylie Bait and Tackle, Shakey Head.com, Jak’s Custom Baits, Koyote Fishing Tackle, Tru South Lures and The Great Outdoors.
