1995
▪ Walter T. Barron Sr., who died 25 years earlier, posthumously received the W.L. Broadwell Award from Catawba Masonic Lodge No. 56 for his lifetime of service to the community. The award was accepted by his children.
▪ The Lancaster County School Board unanimously approved naming Wayne McIntosh the new principal of Indian Land High School.
▪ A Fort Mill firm, Eagle Erectors Inc., of Calvin Hall Road, built the tower that supported the new terminal Doppler radar at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
▪ Scott Barefield, former softball coach at Buford High School, was named softball coach at Fort Mill High School, succeeding Brian Dove.
1975
▪ Fort Mill was designated a Bicentennial City by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration.
▪ The Fort Mill swim team, coached by Jim Cook, won the 15th annual Springs Aquatics at the Springs Park pool in Lancaster.
▪ Fort Mill residents were concerned and baffled concerning the delay in paving the approaches to the new bridge over the Southern Railway tracks on Steele Road.
▪ Recent offerings at the Ft.-Roc Drive-In included “Midnight Cowboy,” “Bloody Mama,” “Walking Tall Part 2” and “Silent Night, Evil Night.”
1955
▪ Recent movies at the Center Theatre included Walt Disney’s “Davy Crockett: King of the Wild Frontier” with Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen, “Foxfire” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’”
▪ The Fort Mill Woman’s Club held a picnic at the Fort Mill Recreation Center. The ladies had the swimming pool for an hour and they also played canasta and pingpong.
1935
▪ Mack’s Package Store, upper Main Street, Fort Mill, carried a full stock of high grade liquors as well as lesser brands which sold for as little as 65 cents a pint.
▪ Mayor Luther G. Patterson appointed R. P. Bradford to administer the anti-rabies vaccine to local dogs as required by law.
1915
▪ The dry goods store of the Mills & Young Co., on Main Street, was robbed of shoes and clothing. The robbery was considered one of the boldest yet in the town.
▪ A petition was being circulated soliciting signatures of men who were in favor of statewide prohibition.
