1995
▪ Fort Mill Postman, Richard “Dink” Broom, found $1,522 in the parking lot of John Boy’s Chicken and Ribs on Spratt Street and promptly returned the money to the store.
▪ Both Fort Mill and Tega Cay were considering using their own town employees for animal control, stating that the current service was inadequate.
▪ Carolyn Rowland of Fort Mill was recognized by the State of South Carolina for her 20 years of service with the Vocational Rehabilitation Department.
▪ Fort Mill coach Steve Boyd and Indian Land coach Mike Pope welcomed their respective football squads on the first day of practice.
1975
▪ The Bank of Fort Mill was preparing to move from its Main Street location of 27 years to its beautiful new building at 115 Tom Hall St.
▪ The 53-year-old bridge that spanned the Southern Railway tracks, three miles north of Fort Mill, was being readied for demolition.
▪ Fort Mill High School head coach and Athletic Director Gus Allen called on all prospective players to report for physicals and practice.
▪ Rick Boyette won the 110-yard breast stroke event in the 13- and 14-year-old division at the 1975 South Carolina Junior Olympics
1955
▪ Fort Mill children were warned to cease the practice of riding their bicycles and running behind the new county insect fogging machine.
▪ An ad in the Times encouraged shopping at the Fort Mill Soda Shop located at White Street and the Charlotte Highway. The business, owned by Lockie Merritt, offered complete fountain service.
1935
▪ Mrs. Caroline Baker of Fort Mill was preparing to celebrate her 101st birthday. Baker was born in 1834, during the Andrew Jackson administration.
▪ Miss Allie Bradford left for Van Wyck, Lancaster County, to resume teaching in the Van Wyck School.
1915
▪ The police officers of Fort Mill seized a number of shipments of whiskey during the past week, mostly from North Carolina residents.
▪ The boys of Flint Hill, back from training at Fort Moultrie and suffering from sunburn and mosquito bites, stated that they did not care to ever return to the Isle of Palms.
